Ian "Shai'tan" Becking

Lead Designer, Quality Assurance

The source of evil, antithesis of the Creator. Walking the world once more, Shai’tan’s ambitions drove him to begin bigger projects than those in the past… and for that he’d need a team. With Unreal Tournament 2004 on the horizon, he began making a series of plans for the MSU contest, and settled on a vehicle conversion called MechPack as being the simplest and most enjoyable project. Needless to say, this only meant it was the least painful in its ability to devour great quantities of time. Recruiting as soon as UT2004 hit the shelves, there was only one goal in Shai’tan’s mind; If we were going to create something great that would stand out among the rest, we would have to be professional about it, stick to a deadline, and still come out with something fun to play. Of course, it might be slightly easier if he worked with professionals. (If this is something you look for in a game designer or Quality Assurance position, and you're hiring, you can grab Shai'tan's Résumé here and give him a call to arrange a webcam interview. I'm more than willing to relocate based on the position, so don't exclude me simply because I live on the West Coast or am Canadian.)

Bryan "Basilisk" Ottho

Modeler, Animator

Bryan is actually the hardest worker in our team, partly because he does everything the hard way, but also because he has the most work to do. Handling everything from learning a new modeling program to UVW mapping for our texture artist to animating all our mechs, he'll always manage to get everything done on time (Mostly because he doesn't have until the deadline to finish his part... he's got to give the texture artist and programmers a little time to work as well), and spends additional time making request pieces when the programmers need it. Despite setbacks ranging from incompatible software to an overheating CPU, Bryan has always managed to deliver results, and believes someday we'll all live in a ninja mansion.

Aaron "Manticore" Ottho

Concept/Texture Artist

Aaron is a third year Interactive Arts student at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, and has an avid interest in all digital media. He love to draw and loves using Photoshop, so he naturally took on the texturing and concept orthographic drawings for this mod. Aaron separates himself with two outstanding features; The first is that he's the most talented one among us, as none of us can draw to save our lives. The second is that he's the only one of us that has a girlfriend.

James "Mia'cova" Railton

Programmer

Mia'cova has been around since the beginning, mostly because he's only lived two blocks away from Shai'tan for the last sixteen years; it's no wonder their nicks descend from the same books. And no, he's not a girl, but we do worry about his daily estrogen intake when he complains about... well, everything. Mia'cova is Shai'tan's first choice when it comes to anything Unreal related, be it UnrealScript programming to a good buddy to practice with before a LAN party. Of course, Mia'cova doesn't lift a finger unless properly motivated, so we have the satisfaction of knowing everything will be left to the last minute, no matter how large the project.

Caleb "CPB" Buxton

Programming Contributor

CPB is a 2nd year Interactive Arts student at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, and has an avid interest in programming and digital media. He helped with the RASP, originally recommending Buckley's -- until it was clear it was a serious bacterial infection.

Neil, aka "ttl"

Programmer

Neil goes to university and deals with the MechPack project as a professional programmer, dedicating time and energy constantly to fixing our bad code and replacing it with "real" code. Little is known about him other than he'd like nothing better to be left alone to his work, and was extremely spontaneous picking up this project at the last minute to help us meet our deadlines. With ttl on our team, everyone is a little more motivated to polish up their portions so he doesn't completely upstage us.

James "Infinite Loop" Freeman-Hargis, aka "_paradox_"
Programmer
James is from Chicago, born and raised, and he's a graduate of the University of Chicago's school of Computer Science. He's been programming, in one form or another, for 15 years and currently makes a living programming web pages in PHP. He's an aspiring game developer and doesn't really care what track to take (programmer, designer, artist, tester, etc.) as long as he can make a living in the field. To that end, he's started modding UT2004. He hopes to build solid, robust and well-made mods and joins the MechPack team with that in mind. He can also divide by zero and does so constantly.
